Lancaster Lightning Head Coach Terry Caro

Head Coach Terry Caro

Coach Terry Caro began his athletic career as a multi-sport standout athlete at Marietta High School, excelling both on the football field and on the Track. Coach Caro's athletic prowess earned him a scholarship to Oklahoma State University where he was granted a scholarship for football. After completing his collegiate career with the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Coach Caro once again became a Cowboy in Dallas during his stint in the NFL. After playing professionally, Coach Caro decided to share his passion and experience with young athletes in Lancaster and founded the Lancaster Lightning Track Club.

Lancaster Lightning

Founded in 1999; Lancaster Lightning is one of the earliest USA Track and Field clubs sanctioned in the area. In the decades this program has been operational several Division 1 athletes, Junior Olympians, and State Champions have developed their talent wearing our uniform.

Many of the youth track clubs in the area today were formed by athletes and coaches that got their start within our organization - and countless runners that compete with other teams in the Summer train with us in the offseason. Lancaster Lightning founder and Head Coach, Terry Caro, opens his arms, his training facility, and is willing to impart his boundless knowledge and experience to any young athlete (or aspiring coach or trainer) who wants to be successful and are willing to do the work necessary to reach their full potential.

One of the biggest differentiating factors from Lancaster Lightning and other sports clubs is the true athlete-first culture that exists within our organization. We don't rush the development of our runners; we don't overtrain - instead we work with the athlete to develop an individualized training plan that evolves as the athlete does. Our aim is for our runners to be their best and earn scholarships while not being hampered by injuries from over exertion, or fatigued and mentally drained by the time they reach college.

Lancaster Lightning has been successful in competition and a cornerstone of the community for decades, we invite you to come see why.

Our Mission

Lancaster Lightning Youth Track Club is dedicated to providing children with positive role models and healthy, enriching activities. By surrounding athletes with peers and adults who share similar values and goals, we create an extended family that teaches love, respect, self‑esteem, and motivation. Through this supportive environment, we help children build the strong personal foundation they need to thrive—not only in athletics, but as productive citizens of tomorrow. We use sports as a powerful vehicle to positively influence both youth and their families, promoting growth, character, and community.

Our Vision

To empower every young athlete to realize their full potential—on the track, in the classroom, and in the community. We envision a future where our athletes develop lifelong confidence, character, and leadership through a supportive environment rooted in family, discipline, and shared values. By inspiring a love of sport and a commitment to personal excellence, we aim to cultivate future leaders who uplift their families, strengthen their communities, and shine far beyond athletics.
